چکیده

Designing a robot manipulator with fewer actuators than the dimension of its configuration space —to reduce bulk, weight and cost— becomes feasible by introducing mechanical elements that lead to non-holonomic constraints. Unfortunately, the mechanical advantages of these non-holonomic designs are usually darkened by the complexity of their control. This paper deals with motion planning for parallel robots with non-holonomic joints shedding new light on their control strategies. As a case study, the motion planning problem is solved for a 3-ŬPU parallel robot, where Ŭ stands for a non-holonomic joint whose instantaneous kinematics are equivalent to that of a universal joint. It is thus shown how the three prismatic actuators can maneuver to reach any six-degree-of-freedompose of the moving platform. The motion planning has been addressed as a control problem in the control system representation of the robot’s kinematics and a motion planning algorithm has been devised based on a Jacobian inversion of the end-point map of the representation. Performance of the algorithm is illustrated with numeric computations.

Nonholonomic motion planning for car-like robots

We consider the robot motion planning problem in the presence of non-integrable kinematic constraints, known as non-holonomic constraints. Car-like non-holonomic mobile robots are used for solving this problem, and several implemented planners are discussed. We claim that the randomized methods are more capable of efficiently solving many challenging, high-dimensional problems. Results with ran...

Optimal Trajectory Planning of a Mobile Robot with Spatial Manipulator For Spatial Obstacle Avoidance

Mobile robots that consist of a mobile platform with one or many manipulators mounted on it are of great interest in a number of applications. Combination of platform and manipulator causes robot operates in extended work space. The analysis of these systems includes kinematics redundancy that makes more complicated problem. However, it gives more feasibility to robotic systems because of the e...

A Practical Approach for Motion Planning of Wheeled Mobile Robots

Wheeled Mobile Robots (WMR) have been widely studied in the past fifteen years. Due to kinematic constraints, many WMR are not integrable (non-holonomic). Therefore, standard techniques developed for robot manipulators are not directly applicable. In particular, the motion planning of WMR is still a relevant issue. Examples of motion planning for WMR are available in the literature (Latombe, 19...

Cooperative Motion Planning for Non-Holonomic Agents with Value Iteration Networks

Cooperative motion planning is still a challenging task for robots. Recently, Value Iteration Networks (VINs) were proposed to model motion planning tasks as Neural Networks. In this work, we extend VINs to solve cooperative planning tasks under non-holonomic constraints. For this, we interconnect multiple VINs to pay respect to each other’s outputs. Policies for cooperation are generated via i...

Closed loop motion planning of cooperating mobile robots using graph connectivity

In this paper we address the problem of planning the motion of a team of cooperating mobile robots subject to constraints on relative configuration imposed by the nature of the task they are executing. We model constraints between robots using a graph where each edge is associated with the interaction between two robots and describes a constraint on relative configurations. We develop a decentr...
